For over 100 years Point Fermin has served many purposes under the watchful eye and care of its keepers from acting as a beacon of safety to mariners entering the Harbor at San Pedro to today serving as a beacon to our cities’ past and a time long forgotten.

Point Fermin Lighthouse
Welcome to the Point Fermin Lighthouse Historic Site and Museum. Built in 1874 to light the entrance to the growing Los Angeles Harbor, Point Fermin Lighthouse stood as a beacon for 67 years before its light was extinguished during WWII. The building was restored and placed on the National Register for its 100 th Birthday in 1974. In 2002, the lighthouse opened to the public and already thousands have climbed the tower and walked in the footsteps of the keepers who lived and worked at the lighthouse. We invite you to join them on a journey to the top!
