Who We Are

The City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks (RAP) created the Partnership Division to enhance and expand existing programs and services beyond the traditional programming through collaborative partnerships. The Partnership Division builds relationships between park facilities, a park district, a region, or the Department as a whole, with non-profit or for-profit organizations which enhance City resources to maximize the delivery of services and increase programming opportunities for communities through expanding facility utilization.

Partnership Division Goals

  • Enhance community resources
  • Increase recreation and park services to fulfill greater programming opportunities
  • Support the mutual needs of both organizations

Partnership Types

  • Donations and gifts
  • Free or reduced cost programs
  • Capital improvements

In these difficult economic times, partnership management and development has become an important way for the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks to leverage resources and continue to provide affordable and effective recreational and cultural programs and activities.

The Partnership Division was created in March 2011 after the development of a partnership plan which included a three year evaluation process of existing RAP partners. As an integral part of the Department’s Partnership and Revenue Branch, the Division focuses on building solid partnerships with community based organizations, foundations, corporations and civic institutions.

For over 100 years, RAP has brought people together to celebrate, to compete, to learn new skills, and to relax with family and friends in safe, welcoming parks and recreational facilities. The Department of Recreation and Parks is the City’s most comprehensive social service agency. RAP operates and maintains over 400 parks and more than 15,000-acres of parkland, and provides recreational, and cultural programs and activities.

Throughout our history, RAP has created powerful partnerships that have helped provide free swim lessons, state-of-the-art skate facilities, ball fields, affordable art classes, innovative playgrounds, affordable sports leagues and so much more. The Partnership Division maintains existing partnerships while creating and nurturing new collaborations.
