Hansen dam aquatic center - home page 11798 Foothill Blvd. Lake View Terrace, CA 91342 * Information about 6Th Annual HANSEN DAM TRIATHLON RESULTS Hansen Dam Aquatic Center is a 40-acre water recreation facility located on the northwest side of Hansen Dam Recreation Area. The facility consists of a 9-acre recreation lake and a 1.5-acre swimming lake. The facility has 50 public restrooms, 20 dressing rooms, 25 showers and several picnic areas. The recreation lake is available for fishing, pedal boat rentals and public boating. The facility is open year-round (including holidays), but is subject to closure during severe weather. Activities available including fishing, boating, picnicking, jogging/walking, bird watching, boat lessons and rentals. Junior Guard Program The City of Los Angeles Open Water Junior Lifeguard Program is a six week program designed to provide children ages 9-17 with knowledge and respect for the open water environment at beaches and lakes. Kayak Program Kayaking is a great activity to do at any time of the year! It helps to keep you fit, adds fun to your week and gets you out of the house. There is no better place to do kayaking than at Hansen Dam. Hansen Dam is a great, local lake in Los Angeles that serves as our "classroom". Our classes are small, fun and focus on individual attention so that our professional instructors can guide both beginners and veterans to become skilled paddlers. Come try our classes and you won't forget your experience!
Permit Request, Permit Maps and Permit Rules Any organized groups wishing to use the facility must apply for and be issued an approved permit. Fees for certain activities may apply. Fishing Derby All Fishing Derbies have been canceled due to the City's budget. Trout derby held on the first weekend of December and first weekend of April. Catfish derby held on the third weekend of September. Fourth of July At approximately 8:30 pm the Fireworks Show starts. Free Parking available in the surrounding park. Polar Bear Swim A free event held on January 1 every year at 8:00 am. Take the plunge into an experience you will not forget. Refreshments and a bonfire provided afterwards. Donations are welcome. Come and have a beary good time! |
