Palms Recreation Center is located at the intersection of Overland Avenue and the Santa Monica freeway. Our special features include: Child Care Center, Auditorium, Picnic Area, Playground, Basketball Courts, and Palms Rancho-Park Library. We have a picnic area (available by reservation on Sundays) and limited room space available for birthday parties and meetings. We do allow moon bounces (selected from a list provided by the park office) with a generator with your picnic permit for an additional fee. Please contact our office for details and availability.
Our staff, instructors, and volunteers offer a variety of programs and activities for the community. Parent and Me classes, experiential art programs, day camp programs, dance and fitness activities are all available.
We offer sports experiences for children 4-8 years of age, providing your child meets the age requirements. (Please see brochure for more specific information.) Pee Wee and Rookie Soccer is offered in the fall (registration in June), Little Hoopsters Basketball is offered in the winter (registration in October), and T-Ball and 5-Pitch is offered in the spring (registration in February).
Palms Park Day Camp programs are for children entering grades K-8th. Camps are offered in the summer, winter, and spring based on the LAUSD school holiday breaks. Sports Camp for 1st – 3rd grade children is offered in the summer and winter only. Please check our current brochure for information and camp dates.
The Palms Advisory Board meets one evening a month. Please contact Neely Irwin, Recreation Coordinator at 310.838.3838 if you are interested in becoming a member.
LA Parks Foundation is a non-profit 501c(3) organization that is able to offer wonderful sponsorship opportunities for businesses and great fundraising events to help enhance Palms Recreation Center and other parks in the City of Los Angeles. Class Registration Information - WINTER CLASSES Our Winter Class Brochure will be on-line soon. Please check back or call 310.838.3838 for more information and to be added to our mailing list. Most winter classes run 10 weeks, unless otherwise stated. Students must meet class age requirements by the beginning date of the session. Staff reserves the right to require proof of age at any time. Online registration for Winter Classes is November 30 – December 25, 2009; only credit cards can be used online. Walk-in registration will start on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at the Palms Recreation Center office. Registration payment in full by credit card, check, or money order must be made in person at the time of registration. Checks are to be made payable to “L.A. City Department of Recreation and Parks”. Class fees will NOT be prorated until after the fourth week of classes.
Classes will begin the week of January 10 and will run 10 weeks unless otherwise stated. Please consult with your physician before enrolling in any physically demanding class. Persons with disabilities are welcome to participate in our programs. Reasonable accommodations will be made with prior arrangements. Please notify the instructor prior to onset of class if you or your child has special needs.
REFUND P0LICY: A non-refundable 15% administration fee will be assessed by the Recreation Center for any refund request made by the Wednesday prior to the first class. Thereafter an administrative fee of 15% plus the cost of the first class (per participant) will be deducted from your refund for request made up to three days after the first class. There will be no refund requests made thereafter unless the class is changed or cancelled by the recreation center. Staff reserves the right to cancel or combine classes if minimum enrollment is not met.
