Friday, July 1, 2011 - Sunday, September 11, 2011 General Information Camp High Sierra is nestled in rustic mountains surrounded by scenic areas for photographs, hiking, swimming, fishing, backpacking, horseback riding, and bicycling. Cabins 1 through 8 have six single beds and have no inside plumbing. Cabins 9 and 10 have four single beds, and a cold water sink and toilet. Bring sleeping bags or bedding. No cooking appliances are allowed in the cabins. Camp High Sierra has a variety of wild animals in and around camp, please keep your camp site clean. Bear boxes are located at non-electrical campsites only. Size of bear boxes are 33”W x 36” H x 28” D. Use the bear box at your campsite. Please remember, you are entering an area frequented by bears. Store all food, cosmetics, and coolers in a bear box or a closed vehicle. Due to fire hazards, keep campfires small and low, preferably below 18 inch. Campfires may be restricted by staff or fire department. Maximum trailer/RV length is 32 feet. Campsite varies in size. Generator use is not allowed in camp. Camp quiet time hours are from 10:00 pm - 6:00 am. Check-in time is 1:00 pm. Check-out time is 11:00 am. CAMP HIGH SIERRA FEES & RESERVATIONS
Registration Process For reservations, call (213) 485-4853, and speak with a staff person. At that time, you will be leaving only your name, and two good phone numbers for Camps Staff to call you back. Do not leave a message for a reservation on the voice mail system. Calls will be returned as soon as possible, according to your place in the order of the calls. The initial dates to call in are as follows:
A limit of two cabins / campsites per phone call. Additional cabins or campsites will require additional calls. Reservations made the week of March 14th are due by April 1, 2011. Payment is due in full. No partial payments will be accepted. Reservations made after March 19th are due within 10 working days. Send your check or money order (payable to the City of Los Angeles) to: CAMPING SECTION - 3900 Chevy Chase Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90039. Please indicated rental dates in the memo portion on the check. Special Note Reservations are accepted in the Los Angeles office (213) 485-4853 until Mid-June. From Mid-June through early September, reservations are made at the Camp High Sierra Office (760) 934-2368. Cancellation and Refund Policy Cancellations made with one month or more notice, will receive a refund of payment minus a $50.00 Administrative Fee. Cancellations made less than one month notice will receive no refund. Requests for cancellation by phone must be followed up by a written request, fax or e-mail. Map and directions From Los Angeles, travel north on I-5 (Golden State Fwy.) to Hwy. 14 (Palmdale/Lancaster exit). Continue north on Hwy. 14 all the way through the town of Mojave. Bear to the right out of Mojave, and continue on 14 until it connects with Hwy 395, about 50 miles north of Mojave. Continue on 395 through Bishop (toward Reno), and exit at the Mammoth Lakes turnoff (Hwy. 203), and continue through Mammoth. Proceed through town past the third signal (Canyon Drive). Continue on Lake Mary Road, to Kelly Road, turn Left. Turn Right on Majestic Pines Drive and turn Right on the Camp’s dirt road, located between the first two houses past the intersection. The Camp High Sierra sign is set back off the road. Turn left into the campground. The camp phone number is (760) 934 2368 (summer only). |
